  • Dyson models are the go-to option for many people when it comes to stick vacuums.
  • But I opted for a Samsung Jet 75 with a “Clean Station” that sucks dirt out of the canister.
  • It doesn’t re-release dust when I empty the canister like my old vacuum did.

Like many people looking for a new stick vacuum, my wife and I looked to the popular Dyson ones. We were looking at the $400 Dyson V8 Animal. It seemed light enough and powerful enough for our needs, and it fit within our budget.

But then I saw that my brother had a Samsung Jet stick vacuum that I had never heard of before. He said he bought the Jet because he liked Samsung’s Clean Station – a slim tower designed to suck dirt and dust straight from the vacuum’s removable canister into a traditional vacuum’s filter bag.

It made me choose a Samsung Jet over a Dyson because it solved a problem I didn’t know I had: dust was coming back into my house every time I emptied the cartridge of my old Dyson in the garbage. Until now, I thought this was an unsolvable problem with bagless vacuums.

Samsung offers several models of Jet Stick vacuum cleaners

I picked up the $650 Samsung VS20T7536P5 Jet 75 package that includes the Clean Station, and got it at a $488 discount on Amazon in early January.. It comes with five attachments: a general purpose head, a hard floor head, a smaller furniture head, a flat attachment, and a dusting attachment. It also comes with a battery charging station that you can mount on the wall or sit on a stable surface.

Samsung also offers the Jet 70 with 150 air watts, which is also compatible with the Clean Station. It’s around $355 at Samsung and Amazon or $549 with the Clean Station. The Jet 90 is similar to the Jet 75, but its charging station can accommodate two batteries and you can adjust the length of the stick.

A more expensive bespoke version of the Jet will also arrive later this year.

The Samsung Jet 75 also has more power and better battery life than the Dyson V8 Animal

The Samsung Jet 75 technically has more power (200 air watts) than the 115 air watts of the Dyson V8. Additionally, the Jet 75’s battery lasts up to 60 minutes, while the Dyson V8 Animal runs for 40 minutes.

These battery life estimates are based on the lowest suction power for each vacuum. But I found the Samsung Jet 75 to have more than enough power on its lowest power setting, and that’s what I use 95% of the time. My house is 2,800 square feet, so I needed a secondary battery, which I bought for $150 on Amazon.

The Samsung Jet 75 might be too powerful for thinner rugs and carpets

The motorized rotating brush head may stop on some carpets. There is a rug in my house that is particularly troublesome. When I clean it, I have to turn the Jet 75 off and on again to restart the rotating head.

However, as long as I keep the Jet 75 moving in a normal suction motion and it’s on the minimum power setting, I can avoid the problem. Apparently, Dyson stick vacuums can also fall victim to this. My mum, who has a Dyson Outsize, has similar issues with some of her mats.

The problem may be related to the fineness of the carpet. The vacuum’s suction is so strong that it lifts the carpet near the rotating head and causes enough resistance to keep the head from spinning. I see it as a testament to the power of the Jet 75, and I have no issues with thicker rugs and carpets.

What it’s like to use the Clean Station Tower

Using the tower is incredibly simple. I remove the cartridge from the Jet 75 and place it in the hole in the Clean Station, where it automatically begins to vacuum the contents of the cartridge. Once that’s done, I close the lid of the canister and put it back in the vacuum cleaner.

A single bag lasted me about a month, but your mileage may vary depending on how often you vacuum and the size of your home. Official Samsung bags come in a $40 five-pack at Amazon and Samsung.

I’m glad I went with the Samsung system instead of the Dyson one

Thanks to the great deals in early January, I stayed within my budget with the Samsung Jet 75 and Clean Station bundle, and I didn’t regret buying it instead of opting for the Dyson V8 Animal.

There are additional costs, such as an extra battery and vacuum bags for the Clean Station. Still, it’s worth stopping all the dust I’ve vacuumed from spreading around my house, even if it’s just a small amount.
