On March 6, 2022, Missoula Police Department officers learned that Cheye Andrade, who had an outstanding felony warrant, was suspected of being at the Broadway Inn. The warrant was for $75,000 with an initial offense of criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute.
An officer contacted the motel and showed an employee a photo of Andrade. The employee believed the person was in one of the rooms. The officer requested and obtained a search warrant for the room. Lydia Arnold, Police Public Information Officer, explains.
“Officers obtained a search warrant based on information they had about a preliminary investigation they conducted,” Arnold said. “Officers made contact with Cheye Andrade and Devin Farley inside the hotel room. Officers took them into custody and observed indicators of drug use and the distribution of drug paraphernalia in the room.
During the investigation, an officer saw Andrade enter the bathroom and close the door. Officers repeatedly ordered Andrade out of the restroom, but she did not comply. When the bathroom door opened, an officer observed Andrade at the sink with two syringes in his hand containing heroin.
The officer observed that Andrade appeared to be attempting to empty the substance from the syringes into the sink. There was an open container on the bathroom counter with several empty syringes and some containing small amounts of heroin. Both Andrade and Farley were arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Center.
“Officers requested an additional search warrant for the room and obtained the search warrant,” Arnold said. “During the search of the room, the search revealed numerous items of drug paraphernalia, weapons and a substance that showed a presumptive positive result for methamphetamine. This case is still under investigation by detectives from the Missoula Police Department.
During the search, officers found $1,470 in cash, several syringes, a stolen handgun, nine blue pills imprinted “M30” that matched fentanyl, and several packets of methamphetamine and heroin. The total amount of methamphetamine inside the hotel room was approximately 255.9 grams.
Andrade is currently charged with criminal possession with intent to distribute, criminal possession of dangerous drugs, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, and unlawful use/possession of property subject to criminal forfeiture.
Farley is currently charged with criminal possession with intent to distribute, criminal possession of dangerous drugs, unlawful use/possession of property liable to criminal forfeiture and theft.
On August 1, 2019, Farley was arrested for allegedly selling methamphetamine.
