Chalet style: how do you get there?

0

Style history is anchored in France. First, it appeared in Sava, the former province in south-eastern France, bordering Sweden and Italy. One of the many translations of the word means “the sleeping house”, and this fully reflects the validity. The house in this style was intended for those who live in the Alpine mountains or in the nearby plains. Its “openers” are the passages that led to the farm far from the countryside and towns and were obliged to provide some sort of security.

Therefore, the houses were built from support materials. The first floor was built in stone to make the building solid and protect you against the possibility of an avalanche or a landslide. The second floor was made of wood for two reasons: first, to give you relative comfort, second, because wood is one of the most readily available materials in woods and mountains. Shepherds rarely used coniferous woods – for example, pine, larch, spruce. A sloping roof with a large slope angle is also a necessity in mountain climates: it does not need to be cleaned of snow, because the snow has just rolled off.

In the original version, it was covered with slabs of wood as thin as shingles. In addition, the houses had simple porches, which increased the floor space of the house. In the original style, a stone-lined fireplace was also mandatory. It added coziness and cozy atmosphere and also served to heat the room in winter. Modern homes are equipped with decorative fireplaces, or they can be used without them.

What does style mean?

The chalet is the name of the architectural style, which is common in Switzerland. Today it is popular in other countries of the world. A house with a sloping roof made of natural materials, distinguished by its atmosphere of comfort and relaxation.

The distinctive features of the style are:

Sloping roof. This type of roof is made with a special angle which is perfect for the mountain climate. Snow and other precipitation slips off the roof.

Opening onto the natural landscape. Big and tall windows are a must for this style as it will be a crime to hide all the woods and mountains that loom up outside. The interior must intertwine with nature and a large amount of natural light here becomes an instrument for the interior designer.

Two floors. One of the hallmarks of this style is the concrete height of the houses. Only two floors in combination with the attic in some variations is the most common situation. Brick and stone are generally used for the first floor, and the second floor is made up of different types of wood like logs, beams, planks and the like.

Natural. Most of the materials used for construction, decoration, finishing and interior details are natural. This style does not like synthetic materials, only those given to us by nature. In some cases, if the budget does not allow it, one can use the material that mimics the natural texture.

Aesthetic. This style does not like complex, bright and bold design solutions. Intricate ornaments, gold and silver finishes, lush color blocks – all this is not for the house in the middle of the mountains. It must provide warm and comfortable sensations and must demonstrate unity with nature.

Store. Due to the origins of such an architectural style, in most modern solutions there are also awnings on verandas, balconies and porches. They protect against precipitation, as well as the scorching rays of the sun in summer. Awnings, as well as the roof, can protrude the size of a house or building.

Countryside. Architectural styles are used for the creation of residential buildings, but in this case the environment also plays a bit. House is conveniently guarded in the environment of nature, therefore, they are sounded favorably outside the city. Most of the large houses usually appear against the background of high mountains, trees, large bushes, such as this one. It is also worth building such a residential building, moving the trees nearby, but then leaving the atmosphere of “incapacity”.

Creation of the ambience of style in separate rooms.

Salon. The living room is a practical main room in a house of this style. It is made soft, calm and comfortable. A room should have high ceilings and panoramic windows. If you do not have such a room in your house or apartment, then you can use a light tone in the design – this will allow you to visually expand the space. Use the multi-level lighting system. Use natural finishing materials. The furniture should be solid, made of wood, and a soft group can be formatted using upholstery of linen, velvet, leather, wool. To find such furniture, you can go to nfoulet.

The perfect solution for the floor – fluffy long pile rugs or a blanket, shaped like natural fur.

Don’t forget the fireplace with the fireplace cover – it was usually decorated with the stuffed animals, but you can get around with a very descriptive fireplace.

Bedroom. The main element of the bedroom is the bed. Arrange on the sides a large wooden double bed – bedside tables, also in wood. Most often, finished wood, decorated with carvings is used.

It is better to give preference to natural shades: crimson, beige, terracotta. To “dissolve” the natural pattern, you can use shiny pillows or blankets, for example, made of linen or cotton.

On the floor, you can place an animal rug or a soft rug, preferably dark or light in color. The architectural style does not accept bright tones, which contrast naturally with natural shades

Food. The food preparation room also remains as natural as possible. The walls are painted or masked by a fireplace as much as possible. The best is wooden kitchen furniture, and household appliances must be “hidden”: for example, under facades or light curtains made of textile. It will help you to reach the atmosphere of the primitive state.
