A 41-year-old Anaconda man, Christopher Boudreau, is in the Missoula County Detention Center on $150,000 bond after appearing in Missoula City Court on Friday charged with two counts of child sexual abuse.

The probable cause affidavit states that Boudreau made contact with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old minor for the purpose of meeting her and having illegal sexual contact.

Missoula County Assistant District Attorney Mark Handelman appeared for the state and asked Justice of the Peace Landee Holloway to have bail set at $100,000.

“If it pleases Your Honor, we ask that bail be set at $100,000,” Handelman began. If he posts or is otherwise released, the state asks that he have no contact with minors, that he remain in his home county which I believe is Anaconda Deer Lodge, except for court appearances the tribunal. There will be no possession of internet capable devices (access). »

Handelman acknowledged the fact that Boudreau thought he was communicating with a minor child, even though he was in fact communicating with a detective from the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office posing as a minor. Handelman asked for a high bond to protect the community.

“First and foremost, fairly standard for this type of case, the nature of the offense is easily repeatable and quite difficult to detect even if there is pre-trial monitoring,” he said. “Furthermore, he is a flight risk. He does not live in this county. At least in his job, it’s a “gig” job, i.e. DoorDash and so on, and he goes to other towns for what only enlarges his hunting ground.

Handelman pointed to other reasons for the high bail amount.

“Another reason for the flight risk is that he is well aware of what is going on, as these text messages with Jane Doe indicate in terms of the consequences of this (activity). He clearly does not want to go to jail. He said it to the fictional Jane Doe. One of the texts he sent was a quote: “I would do anything you want to do as long as you know you don’t have to and as long as you know, you’ll have to shut up because I don’t “I don’t want to go to jail, LOL.

After Boudreau asked to be released on his own recognizance so he could care for his ailing mother, Judge Holloway not only granted Handelman’s bail request; she increased it.

“Based on what I heard here today in the courtroom and the allegations, they are very concerned about who could potentially be a victim there,” Judge Holloway said. “In relation to the allegations, it is unfortunate that you are providing information to the court regarding the care of your mother, however, I will set bond in the amount of $150,000. If you post this bond, you will be placed under GPS surveillance and you will be under surveillance before the trial.

Boudreau was remanded to the Missoula County Detention Center to await his next court appearance as he faces Missoula District Court for felony arraignment.
