Kate Middleton’s friend Rose Hanbury has turned frugal as she seeks to furnish her 18th century Grade I listed home on the cheap.

David Cholmondeley’s wife, 58, who is the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, took to Instagram to ask for help finding new rugs.

The couple – who are worth around £ 75million and have three children – live in the grand Houghton Hall, located on 1,000 acres near Queen Sandringham’s estate.

But Rose, 36 – a member of the Duchess of Cambridge’s well-born group of friends known as the Turnip Toffs – said she was not looking to spend a lot of money on them.

Rose, a member of the Duchess of Cambridge’s well-born group of friends known as the Turnip Toffs, said she was not looking to spend a lot of money on rugs.

She posted on Instagram: “Help! I’m desperately looking for nice rugs for bedrooms like the one in this room, or any other suitable style.

“Does anyone have any advice on where to buy these (which aren’t too expensive!) Thanks.” “

A source said: “It seems strange that she asks for cheap items to furnish her house, given that she lives in a mansion.

“Surely, she can’t have had a hard time.”

Some subscribers laughed at her and told her to try products like TK Maxx, IKEA, or Etsy.

The Marquise de Cholmondeley is a regular in royal circles and was invited to a state banquet for Donald Trump at Buckingham Palace in June 2019, where she was positioned in close proximity to the US president.

As Lord Great Chamberlain, her husband played a unique role in the official opening of Parliament – walking backwards in front of the Queen.

The Marquis had a slew of glamorous girlfriends before marrying Rose, an ex-model 23 years younger, in 2009.

They met at a party at Villa Cetinale, the grand Italian abode of disgraced conservative peer Lord Lambton – Rose’s sister Marina is married to Lambton’s heir, Ned, the Earl of Durham.

The sisters’ grandmother was Lady Elizabeth Longman, a bridesmaid at the Queen’s wedding to Prince Philip.
